Algeria
Last updated: 2003
Algeria is a vast and diverse country offering a unique blend of Mediterranean coastline, Saharan desert landscapes, and rich historical heritage. Tourists can explore ancient Roman ruins like Timgad and Djemila, the vibrant Casbah of Algiers, and the dramatic dunes of the Sahara. Though less visited than some neighbors, Algeria rewards adventurous travelers with authentic experiences and breathtaking scenery.
We crossed to Algeria from Tunisia in winter 2003. The country was unknown to tourists and deemed as dangerous. We traveled along the coast, then visited amazing Constantine with hanging bridges. Afterwards, we went to Alger, but I got sick and we didn’t see much. To make up the time, we flew south to El Oued and crossed the border to Tunisia in the south.
