Last updated: 2024
Wigierski National Park in northeastern Poland is a pristine wilderness destination centered around clear glacial lakes—especially Lake Wigry—and the winding Czarna Hańcza River, popular among kayakers and nature lovers. The park spans over 15,000 ha of mosaic landscapes shaped by ancient glaciers, featuring forests dominated by pine and spruce, wetlands, peat bogs, and a variety of rare flora and fauna including European beavers, elk, wolves, and more than 200 bird species. With over 190 km of marked walking, cycling, and educational trails, along with opportunities for canoeing, wildlife watching, scenic boat rides, and historic visits to the former Camaldolese monastery, Wigierski offers diverse and eco‑friendly experiences for outdoor enthusiasts.
